From the time I was a little girl, I loved accessories. Sure, I was raised with two brothers, and certainly valued all that came with that, but I was a girly-girl in that way. I loved working with beads and creating what I thought were such beauties. I couldn’t wait to get my fingers into the embroidery thread and make knotted chokers, anklets, and friendship bracelets.
As time went on, my materials and skills evolved, but I always loved working with my hands and creating. I suppose it only makes sense that here I am, decades later, still creating jewelry. To be honest, even writing/reading my own story it feels like fate. But it wasn’t always that way.
In all honesty, it was a fluke. I wasn’t happy with my selection at all my usual haunts. I was relentless in jewelry shopping. I have generally always cared substantially more about my accessories than my clothes. Just the way I’m wired, I guess. From the time I was little, shopping excitedly at Claires and The Icing, through later in life in Charming Charlie and the like, then to local boutiques- it was one of my favorite hobbies. I didn’t care where I shopped, I just wanted to curate an amazing selection for myself. And wow, I sure had a great collection.
As time went on, though, I just was not satisfied with what I was finding out there. So, without even thinking about it, I started making my own jewelry again. Friends and family were supportive and loved it, and one thing turned into another, and here I am. The little girl who loved creating is now the 30-something mama creating for herself and family.
